Nelly Wamaitha

Before entering academia, Nelly Wamaitha worked as a State Counsel at State Law Office (Kenya).  There before she worked as the Head of Legal Department of the Ministry of Home affairs in Kenya where she served for over 25 years.  She has taught at the law school at Catholic University of Eastern Africa among others.  She was an Associate Dean at Mount Kenya University before being appointed to Acting Dean position in September 2015. 

 

Nelly teaches Family Law, Gender and the Law and Criminology.  Within this area, Nelly has written on Female Genital Mutilation in Kenya: To be or not to be, does a woman has a choice?

 

Nelly’s publication is on "Patriorchy and The Legal Developments in Kenya" in The Law Society of Kenya Journal, (2006) 1, LSKJ, LawAfrica Publishing (K) Ltd.
